Meikyō shisui (明鏡止水) — “A bright mirror, still water.” A Japanese expression describing a calm, clear and undisturbed state of mind.
Part of the Kanso series, Calm explores the meeting point between Japanese visual principles and Western typography. The composition reinterprets the balance, spacing and strong geometry of traditional Japanese calligraphy through the Latin alphabet.
Its restrained structure and quiet visual rhythm give the artwork a sense of clarity and stillness, making it a subtle statement piece for contemporary interiors.
